While the sentiment behind Virgin Media's 'lockdown advert' maybe well meaning, the message is totally ruined by the choice of music - the mind numbing awful 'Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now'.

Well, I for one wished that Mark Chapman had focused his efforts elsewhere and indeed , stopped Starship from inflicting their monstrosity upon the World's eardrums.

While the 1980s was responsible for some brilliant music, it was also a period where we suffered some utter crap.

Off the top of my head my 'top' 3 are as follows:

'We Built This City' - Starship
'Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now' - Starship (maybe they were generally awful)
'Total Eclipse of the Heart' (in fact, anything involving Jim Steinman is terrible) - Bonnie Tyler

Restricting your choices to the 80s; what are the musical nightmares of others?

Pretty much anything by Queen, but in no particular order:

Another One bites the dust
I want to break free
Radio GaGa

The last one having a particular and elevated level of hated-ness

Really?!

Given the way you were gyrating around to Rick Astley that time, I thought 'Dancing Queen' would be most appropriate.

Children singing on the advert doesn't improve the song

While this may be true, these children are possibly too young to understand the consequences of their actions and/or realise the pain they are inflicting upon the nation; the blame should not be deflected from the real culprits who are as follows:

Albert Hammond (not the lead guitarist of the Strokes but his father) and Diane Warren - the writers
Narada Michael Walden - the producer

Grace Slick - vocals
Mickey Thomas (not the former Welsh footballer) - vocals
Donny Baldwin - drums
Craig Chaquico - Guitar
Pete Sears - Drums

No doubt, there will be some dinosauric tosser (no offence intended Jobber) who will attest that the above named are credible artists and will post a further musical atrocity that they were involved in; however, I believe they should be hunted down and killed for their crimes.

There are further miscreants; however, their involvement in this abomination is fairly minimal and does not warrant the death sentence, maybe just a severe kicking.
